The Game Industry Promotion Act has been amended (promulgated on January 31, 2025, and effective from August 1, 2025) to introduce stricter requirements for probability-based item disclosure and liability for damages in case of violations.
Please review the following details and ensure compliance with the updated regulations.
▷ Key Amendments
1. Strengthened Loot Box Disclosure Requirements
- Accurate Information Disclosure: The types of loot boxes and their respective probabilities must be disclosed accurately.
- Legal Responsibility for Violations: Failure to disclose or providing false loot box probability information may be deemed as causing harm to users.
2. Liability for Damages and Compensation
- Obligation to Compensate for Damages: Developers who violate the loot box disclosure requirement and cause harm to users may be held liable for damages.
- Increased Compensation for Intentional Violations: If the violation is deemed intentional, the court may impose compensation up to three times the recognized damages.
